Humans have practiced aromatherapy for thousands of years, but our recent obsession with essential oils (and other sacred plant medicines) is causing widespread environmental destruction, and long-term health challenges for consumers. In this hands-on workshop, we'll put aside the tiny bottles and immerse ourselves in the ancient aromatic arts, using local plants that we can grow and gather ourselves. From ritual incenses and smudge wands to flower waters and colognes, we’ll explore the sensual and sustainable ways of blending, burning, infusing, and anointing plants for magic, pleasure, and healing. We will take part in a smudging ceremony and participants will leave with samples and the knowledge to create your own botanical scents of the sacred. Please bring two small jars, a notebook, and a brown-bag lunch. Arrive 15 minutes early so that we may begin on time.
